Kiss in a Box!
The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.
Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy. He was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty. He yelled at her, "Don't you know that when you give someone a present, there's supposed to be something inside it?"
The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said, "Oh, Daddy, it is not empty. I blew kisses into the box. All for you, Daddy." The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.
It is told that the man kept that gold box by his bed for years and whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.
In a very real sense, each of us as humans have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, friends, family or God. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

An apple a day.....

You've heard, "an apple a day will keep the doctor away." While it will certainly take more than a daily apple to keep you healthy, it is a step in the right direction. Apples are delicious, easy to carry for snacking, low in calories, a natural mouth freshener, and they are still very inexpensive.
Apples are a source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber such as pectin actually helps to prevent cholesterol buildup in the lining of blood vessel walls, thus reducing the incident of atherosclerosis and heart disease. The insoluble fiber in apples provides bulk in the intestinal tract, holding water to cleanse and move food quickly through the digestive system.
It is a good idea to eat apples with their skin. Almost half of the vitamin C content is just underneath the skin. Eating the skin also increases insoluble fiber content. Most of an apple's fragrance cells are also concentrated in the skin and as they ripen, the skin cells develop more aroma and flavor.
There are hundreds of varieties of apples on the market today, although most people have only tasted one or two of the most popular such as Red Delicious or Granny Smith. Apples can be sweet, tart, soft and smooth or crisp and crunchy, depending on the one you choose. There is an apple to suit almost everyone's taste, so why not choose one. Have an apple today

Two frogs!

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died. The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
This story teaches two lessons:
1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.
2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them.
Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path. The power of words... it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.

Love

"love is like water, you can hide it in the plam of your hand. and then ,one day you open your hand and its gone, drop by drop vanished and then you look back at it and realize your hand was full memoreies of love."

Rumi....
Love is reckless; not reason.
Reason seeks a profit.
Love comes on strong, consuming herself, unabashed.

Yet, in the midst of suffering,
Love proceeds like a millstone,
hard surfaced and straightforward.

Having died to self-interest,
she risks everything and asks for nothing.
Love gambles away every gift God bestows.

Without cause God gave us Being;
without cause, give it back again.
Gambling yourself away is beyond any religion.

Religion seeks grace and favor,
but those who gamble these away are God's favorites,
for they neither put God to the test
nor knock at the door of gain and loss.

My Wife and I...

While working the other day, I had to work with someone who had came to fix a machine. He was one of those older guys who loved to talk....
In every sentence he used; My wife and I... Here I am standing there and thinking; "for all those years I was married to my ex husband" he never included me in anything not to mention his sentences.... I think part of it is because of our culture and how we were raised. They show more respect to ladies here. But at the same time I see lots of lranian guys who do care about their wives and the way they treat them.....
I was so happy for the old guy and his wife.... It gave me joy to see that look in his eyes everytime he talks about his wife and what they share....

If only everyone cared about others feelings.....

Loosing weight.....
I have been going to gym for a month now, and my goal is to loose 10 pounds and offcourse working on bicep, tricep and abs... Its not that easy, I am telling you. But everytime I go there, I feel so good about myself. I get this good feeling that I have done something good for myself. It all started with the phone call from my Doctor, "Parisa, You have a cholesterol" I was shocked hearing that, Because I love to eat good food, and love to use butter in rice...... I had to cut everything, so I wont take medication. Now back to loosing weight, I am on this diet that one of my friends gave me, eating less sugar and fat. I am telling you its disgusting, specially when you go to grocery store, and looking for non fat versions. I am a shekamoo girl that all of a sudden has to watch what she eats. Thank God I never had problem of gaining weight, otherwise I would be the topolest(LOL) person you have ever seen. Well with summer being close, I thought why not loosing wieght too, while I am on that diet. I will post here how much weight I have lost in a month. Just cross your fingers that I don't cheat on eating all those fatty foods...

Nowruz, Persian New YearYear of 2565 (1385) Begins at 01:25:35 PM New York time on Monday March 20, 2006

In harmony with the rebirth of nature, the Iranian New Year Celebration, or Nowruz, always begins on the first day of spring. Nowruz ceremonies are symbolic representations of two ancient concepts - the End and the Rebirth; or Good and Evil. A few weeks before the New Year, Iranians clean and rearrange their homes. They make new clothes, bake pastries and germinate seeds as sign of renewal.

Haft Seen
The symbolic dishes consist of:
1. Sabzeh or sprouts, usually wheat or lentil representing rebirth.
2. Samanu is a pudding in which common wheat sprouts are transformed and given new life as a sweet, creamy pudding and represents the ultimate sophistication of Persian cooking.
3. Seeb means apple and represents health and beauty.
4. Senjed the sweet, dry fruit of the Lotus tree, represents love. It has been said that when lotus tree is in full bloom, its fragrance and its fruit make people fall in love and become oblivious to all else.
5. Seer which is garlic in Persian, represents medicine.
6. Somaq sumac berries, represent the color of sunrise; with the appearance of the sun Good conquers Evil.
7. Serkeh or vinegar, represents age and patience.
To reconfirm all hopes and wishes expressed by the traditional foods, other elements and symbols are also on the sofreh:
* a few coins placed on the sofreh represent prosperity and wealth;* a basket of painted eggs represents fertility.* a Seville orange floating in a bowl of water represents the earth floating in space.* a goldfish in a bowl represents life and the end of astral year-picas.* a flask of rose water known for its magical cleansing power, is also included on the tablecloth.* Nearby is a brazier for burning wild rue ,a sacred herb whose smoldering fumes ward off evil spirits.* A pot of flowering hyacinth or narcissus is also set on the sofreh.* A mirror which represents the images and reflections of Creation as we celebrate anew the ancient Persian traditions and beliefs that creation took place on the first day of spring.
On either side of the mirror are two candlesticks holding a flickering candle for each child in the family. The candles represent enlightenment and happiness
